BEST IDEA I've heard in a long time!

Double A mentioned this on our radio show today, and I am all for it.

We need to make the politicians wear suits advertising their commercial endorsements, just like the NASCAR drivers do. The more money contributed, the bigger the logo!

In the case of BigPharma, the logo should be that of the most popular, best-selling drug of any given company. For instance, Eli Lilly's biggest seller last year was CYMBALTA, so that word should be suitably emblazoned on the jackets of any and all politicians who took Eli Lilly's generous corporate donations. (This could well have a subliminal effect: Perhaps people will wonder if the politician-in-question is making them depressed?) I personally can't wait for conservative Senator Tom Coburn, who took $7000 from Purdue Pharma, to wear the giant word OXYCONTIN on his belly, as he addresses his constituents. Likewise, how funny would it be if Obama wore the logo ADDERALL XR at his next press conference? (Would he seem more or less authoritative?)

Here are some fashion-forward ideas I discovered, when I searched the web.

From Crooks and Liars:

Like I said, no cheating with PFIZER... it has to say VIAGRA, so everyone will recognize the product. (And frankly, this move might not sell the product as well as playing them sexee blues songs on TV commercials, but maybe Pfizer should start thinking about IMAGE?)

Random Dead Air photo gallery

My reasons for posting these photos are entirely mercenary--but you can still comment on em if you want! (NOTE: Is this my cue to complain about how difficult it is to space photos on Blogger? Wordpress is much easier!)

My cheapskate free-Flickr account only allows 200 free uploaded photos, and these particular photos are about to "drop out" of my account. I'll never find them if I don't bookmark them now, and uploading to Blogger guarantees they will be here when I want them. (I have frequently forgotten to do this and consequently, misplaced a lot of great, already-uploaded photos.)

And so, a post motivated purely by the desire for photographic preservation!

Carl Edwards goes airborne at Talladega

Dramatic crash at Talladega this weekend, which I just saw:

Seven spectators at the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama sustained non-life threatening injuries after a car being driven by Carl Edwards went airborne, hurling debris into the stands.

According to track medical director Bobby Lewis, two of the injured were flown by helicopter to nearby hospitals, one with an apparent broken jaw and lacerations on her face. Reports on the other were not available, but neither were believed to be seriously hurt.

The wreck happened just as drivers were approaching the final lap of the Talladega 500 on Sunday. The car driven by Edwards reportedly clipped a another racer, causing Edwards’ car to spin out of control, careening into a safety fence. Edwards was not injured, however, his car was destroyed, as were sections of the safety fence.

Here is the wreck from several different vantage points:
