Father Christmas, give us some money

I've been getting a number of hits for this song, which I featured last year as my official Christmas season kick-off. I am very pleased to say, it now seems more popular than ever--particularly in our current financial recession!

Apologies for the rather slipshod quality of the video, obviously taken right off the TV. (Ray looks GREEN--then again, maybe he is trying to look like the Grinch?)

And don't forget the moral of the story:

Have yourself a merry merry Christmas
Have yourself a good time
But remember the kids who got nothin
While you're drinkin down your wine

A friend of mine was a department store Santa. Here's a story he tells:

"What do you want for Christmas little girl?" he asked. "A Master Card," said she. "What would you do with a Master Card?" Santa quired. "Why gets some money" she responded with an incredulous tone.

Haven't heard that one since I stopped listening to mainstream rock radio...which was a long, long time ago. It's a good 'un, though, one of the only rock n' roll Christmas songs I like--it has an edge, which most go for cheap, cheesy sentimentality....Actually, I love Joni Mitchell's "River," though it's more of a wishing-Christmas-would-go-away-while-I'm-feeling-so-blue song, and the Pogues "Lullaby of New York" which...well, I can't really imagine Christmas carolers singing it on somebody's front lawn....
