Gone, when you find that there's no one sleeping

Yesterday was the anniversary of the Columbine shootings, and I meant to link my old post titled Me and Columbine. Sorry about that... posting one day late (and a dollar short). As I wrote in the post, it is also something of a spiritual anniversary of mine.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Wayne Harris, Katherine Ann Poole, Thomas Klebold, Susan Yassenoff... as so many pray for the victims, I know they often forget to pray for you too, but I don't.

I wish you had your boys back, and I am so sorry.

(The song below is also in the original post.)

Gone, when you wake in the morning
Gone, when you find that there's no one sleeping
Gone, pretty Penny was her name
She was loved and we all will miss her

I have two cousins who went to Columbine, a freshman and senior respectively when that happened...I remember sitting glued to the TV wondering if they'd been near the shootings and if they were okay and such....obviously they were...I asked them if they even knew the kids responsible, and pretty much only by sight.... strange world we live in....

I will never forget that day either, b/c I had just given my notice at my job, & that I was moving to Washington at the end of May. When I got out of my meeting w/ my boss, Brian called to tell me that there was a massive shooting at a school in Colorado. We still didn't have internet at work so we couldn't follow what was going on.

Weird, but I remember the Columbine shootings every year, and it's weird because it's because it's about the same exact time that my columbine plants start popping up in the spring. Don't you think that's odd? I do.
