Photo: Racist celebration at Bob Jones University

A photo of the 2012 Election-Day celebration at Bob Jones University. This photo was belatedly discovered on BJU-owned WBJU's website and has been making the rounds on Facebook today. The photo was not hidden or private at all.

They don't even care if people see them acting like ... well, like what they are.

In the photo (below), as we see, a dark monkey-appearing doll (?) has been elected president, wearing a red, white and blue lei (after all, he IS from Hawaii) and overalls. Not sure I get the overalls reference, but I'm sure they had a reason.

This is what we've been talking about. This was 2012, not back in the 20s.

They have no shame at all.

Wow. I saw a lot of similar stuff on my newsfeed from some ultra right wingers that are, unfortunately, part of my fiance's family. Needless to say I not only unfriended them, I had to block them too. On election night 2012 one of his cousins went off on such angry racist profanity laced tirades that I really considered contacting Secret Service. Not that I thought she could really carry out her threats, but they were really bordering on it.

JoJo...I understand what you mean. I've heard folks say stuff which was over the line by a long shot, and they suffered no consequences.

It's a traditional ventriloquist's dummy:

The dummy that Edgar Bergen made famous as "Charlie McCarthy" is what everyone now thinks of as the "traditional ventriloquist's dummy."

I'd guess it looks "monkeylike" because at the time it was created and named "Charlie McCarthy," it was referencing the "monkeylike Irishman" stereotype that was common then:

But here in modern times, it would never have occurred to me to think of it as "monkeylike." It's just what a traditional ventriloquist's dummy looks like.

They were probably trying to imply Obama is a "puppet" of someone else (socialists? the banks? who knows).
