Tuesday Tunes

I assure you, I have no idea why, but I've been thinking "they've gone about as fur as they can go" all day long.

Cursed by Rodgers and Hammerstein earworms!

Kansas City - from the musical OKLAHOMA

~*~

A great song about impending motherhood, by adoption.

I Had Something - Lucy Kaplansky

~*~

Great mid-70s art-rock tune, with lyrics by Kurt Vonnegut!

Nice, nice, very nice - Ambrosia

~*~

I never truly appreciated this song until I no longer identified as a Christian. And now, I just love it. Thanks to the indispensable WPCI!

Where to now, St Peter? - Elton John

I had actually read Cat's Cradle not so many years before "Nice, Nice, Very Nice" so I recognized the lyric; it has always puzzled me that that song was not a bigger hit. (Or, y'know, played to death on FM radio in those days.)

Always nice to hear Elton John's less-played tunes, and I like his voice in this one.

At some point, I thought I had the Oklahoma soundtrack memorized, but it turns out that what I remember are the songs that everybody remembers. I barely knew the chorus. (I've never seen Oklahoma all the way through. Don't know why.)

I'll have to try the Kaplansky later.
