Leave the turkey alone!

This comic is one of many that circulate among vegetarians (in email, blogs and listservs) every year at Thanksgiving. I do not have a credit for it, but will guess that it's by Gary Larson or one of his legion of imitators. (Larson was often notably animal-centric in his comics, praised by no less than Jane Goodall.)

If you know for sure who the author/artist is, please leave a note in the comments!

And I repeat, LEAVE THE TURKEY ALONE!

~*~

Taking a short blog break for the holiday. It is also me and Mr Daisy's anniversary--we have been married 22 years! (boggle) Some of my readers are younger than my marriage!

At this point, we finish each other's sentences, just like the old married people you've seen on TV.

Have a great holiday, have a good time, party hardy, and let a turkey live!

((kisses))

Happy Thanksgiving and happy anniversary to you! My Mommeh is making acorn squash stuffed with spinach, ricotta and pasta tomorrow. But Harley and I are having raw meats.

Cracking cartoon! I will be leaving the turkey alone as it's just an ordinary day here...

Also no turkey here. We're having a traditional 3 sisters stew to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. Happy Anniversary, we are at 17 here. It HAS been a long strange trip!
Happy Thanksgiving also...no idea on the comic though.

Happy Anniversary!

I'm thinking 2 pounds of mushrooms and lasagna fixings (lowfat ricotta, maybe lowfat or part-skim mozzarella, herbs, sauce--better start the sauce!, noodles) and pumpkin casserole. Or maybe not.

I am a shameless turkey eater.

Happy Thanksgiving and happy anniversary!
That cartoon does have a certain Far Side quality to it...

Happy anniversary!

I can't promise to leave the turkey alone, but I do promise to attack the sweet potatoes and cranberry bread with significantly more gusto.

Your copy of the cartoon has had the signature deleted - check here and see 'Charteris' written clearly.
it's beautiful.
I couldn't eat a turkey or a duck, or a poor chicken. They are all terrified when they die and where's the health in that for the consumer?

The Pilgrim Fathers were just glad the corn grew. Give thanks indeed.

d to learn more about the pilgrims and this link has some great info.
They were friendly with the Indian Americans. Abraham Lincoln made the holiday. Lincoln then adjusted to holiday so it had no adverse affect on Christmas retail - that was a shock - for way back then?

Happy Thanksgiving Daisy.

You have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Congrats on your anniversary, Daisy! I have to confess I already ate some Turkey during the Canadian Thanksgiving...but I love your cartoon!

A funny thing...meat's not tasting as good as it did before. Perhaps it is my age, but I follow a vegetarian diet more and more.

sorry, deep fried turkey and smoked pig at this house, but I've never pretended to be anything but a committed omnivore. I'll eat your share.
